RESIDENTS in part of the Homesteads in Stanford-le-Hope may have to go without water for a short period while repairs take place on a broken main.

Engineers have been working this morning (Saturday, 22 July) on the main which has fractured on Gideons Way. Homes in the immediate area are suffering low water pressure as a result but still have a supply.

The water is gushing up at a point which was previously repaired.

However, engineers on scene say that at some point the water may have to be turned off to facilitate the repair.

The leak is close to a point where another leak was previously repaired. Engineers will be digging down to examine what has happened.

A spokesperson for Essex & Suffolk Water said: "At around 8:15am this morning we were made aware of a burst on a small four-inch water main on Gideons Way in Stanford-le-Hope.

"Our teams attended quickly and started working on a repair, which is still ongoing.

"A small number of properties may be experiencing low water pressure while this is being carried out, however we expect supplies to be fully restored over the next few hours.

"The road remains open and no diversions have been put in place.

"We would like to thank customers for their patience, and updates can be found on @eswater_care on Twitter."
