YOUNGSTERS who return to Giffards Primary Academy in September will be able to take advantage of a new reading space and books thanks to the generosity of a local company.

Representatives of the Griffin Foundation Trust, the charitable arm of borough-based property compnay Griffin Residential, visited the school on Queen Elizabeth Drive, Corringham, to hand over a grant of £2,000.

The money will be used for new books for Key Stage 2 learners to be used in the new reading space.

Charity trustee Ashley Froment said: "It was a great privilege to be able to visit the school alongside Curtis Johnson from our Stanford-le-Hope office to award the grant of £2,000.

"The new books will help not only the current children but future youngsters that progress through the school. This project echoed one of the reasons why we set up the trust back in 2014, to help as many individuals and causes as possible, over many years."
