Millers aim to make history

HISTORY will be made today as Aveley continue their FA Trophy run at AFC Hornchurch in a special local derby.

Neither side has previously made the last 16 and both teams go into the tie on the back of a hugely successful first half of the season.

Hornchurch are challenging for promotion in the top levels of the Isthmian Premier, while the Millers – last weekend's defeat at leaders Maldon apart – have been on a great run of form that sees them very much in the Isthmian North play-off shake-up.

Hornchurch are managed by former Gillingham, Grays Athletic and Thurrock boss Mark Stimson who has history in this competition, winning two FA Trophies with Grays Athletic in back to back seasons.

The Urchins have beaten two National South teams to get to this stage. so will prove to be tough competition.

The Millers will be without the cup tied striker Tom Richardson and Perry Dunn, but will be boosted by the returning James Goode, who managed to be on the bench in last Saturday's match at Maldon, but will be looking to push for the starting line-up, as he was prior to his injury which kept him out for few weeks.

In the Isthmian League Premier Division East Thurrock United will travel to Margate, hoping to sustain their own promotion challenge, while both Grays and Tilbury travel in the Isthmian North – Tilbury to AFC Sudbury and the Blues to Witham Town.
