Millers denied by last gasp penalty
Carshalton Athletic 3, Aveley 3
AVELEY were denied a famous victory by a penalty six minutes into added time which earned hosts Carshalton a Buildbase FA Trophy First round replay, to be played at Parkside on Monday evening.
It was tough on the Millers who had led the side from two divisions above by three goals at one point.
They took the lead in the 15 minutes when Shad Ngandu fired home from the penalty spot after Alex Akrofi had been brought down in the box.
Three minutes later one became two as centre half Harry Gibbs was left unmarked at a corner and he guided the ball home.
And it seemed Aveley were home and hosed eight minutes into the second half when Jason Raad added the Millers' third.
However, the Robins' revival was sparked by substitute Harry Ottaway who drilled home a shot three minutes later.
Millers continued to press forward and came close to grabbed another goal when Akrofi burst through but Kleton Perntreou made a good save.
Then Raad rattled the Carshalton crossbar.
They were moments Millers were to rue as, nine minutes from the end Christie Pattisson curled home a shot from 25 yards.
That set up a nerve-wracking finish which came to a climax six minutes into stoppage time when Rocky Korboa was fouled in the box and Paris Hamilton-Downes held his nerve to concert the spot-kick.
