FOR the first time in some weekends borough non-League sides are all in action today (Saturday, 20 November) – and all the matches could be pivotal one for managers with points to prove.

At Rookery Hill the new East Thurrock managerial partnership of Marc Harrison and Liam Wallace will be taking their first match in charge when Corinthian Casuals are the visitors.

Casuals are 13th in the Isthmian Premier, with Rocks sitting five places below - precariously close to the drop zone.

East Thurrock had stumbled through a run of seven successive defeats, scoring just two goals, which led to the departure of manager Paul Martin but under the one match caretaker leadership of Jimmy Cooper Rocks did beat Lewes 2-0 in their last outing, giving some momentum to the new coaching regime.

Harrison and Wallace had been the managers at Tilbury until their recent departure and their permanent successor is Keith Rowland, who takes the Dockers hot seat after himself parting company with Aveley, despite guiding them to a challenging position in the play-off zone.

Like his East Thurrock counterparts Rowland – who was greeted with this vote of confidence by Tilbury chairman Danny Nash : "It is an absolute pleasure to welcome Keith to the club, I have seen with my own eyes what he can achieve and his previous club's league position doesn't lie. I am looking forward to the future and the success we believe Keith can bring to this club" - has the chance to build on momentum created by a caretaker boss Luke Wilson.

His reward for winning two games has been to be appointed assistant manager to Rowland.

The duo will take their side to AFC Sudbury this afternoon.

Rowland's successor at Aveley, Danny Scopes – who was appointed just a few hours after Rowland's departure - has fared less well since taking over a fortnight ago. His first match in charge saw the Millers dumped out of the Velocity Trophy at Maldon, followed up by a 4-2 away defeat by Coggeshall.

Scopes will be hoping a first match in charge at Parkside, where Felixstowe and Walton United are today's visitors, will produce a change in fortune.

And Grays Athletic boss Paul Joynes will also be hoping for a change in fortune. Having guided to the Blues to top of the table at one point this season, Grays have stumbled recently with just one point from their last three league matches.

A 2-1 midweek friendly victory against Billericay may have lifted spirits ahead of today's visit to Witham.
