Weymouth 1, Aveley 1

AVELEY settled for a point against Weymouth at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday (25 November). The Millers are without a league win in four matches but stay second in The Vanarama National League South.

Aveley played well in the opening stages and made it count in the 24th minute. Jalen Jones arrived late from a corner and powered his header through the clutches of Gerard Benfield. A great goal from the centre half!

Weymouth soon after had the ball in the back of the net twice. The Terras Midfielder Joel Rollinson scored in the 43rd minute but he narrowly mistimed his run and was flagged offside.

Only two minutes later Rollinson scored again, but he didn't learn his lesson and was ruled offside. The Millers led at the break.

The Terras were playing well after halftime and were not letting Aveley have anything. The Millers were trapped in their own half for large parts of the second 45.

Weymouth equalised in the 84th minute after a questionable decision by the referee. Moments before, Weymouth goes through on goal and the linesman puts their flag up for offside, the referee ignores the offside flag and gives a corner to the hosts.

You can guess what happened next… The Terras equalise after Charlee Hughes scored an own goal from the corner.

After the goal, a scuffle broke out on the pitch. The Millers were not happy.

Aveley takes a point in Dorset but will be gutted it's not three.

The Millers play Bowers & Pitsea on Tuesday (28th November) in the third round of the BBC Essex Senior Cup. The match will take place at the Len Salmon Stadium at 7:45 pm. Bowers & Pitsea play in the Isthmian League Premier Division and currently sit fifth.
