THERE'S action at three local non-League grounds this afternoon (Saturday, 17 October), including a Thames derby.
In the Isthmian Premier Aveley will be looking for their first league win since late August when Chatham Town visit Parkside.
The hosts have struggled and have undergone massive team and managerial rebuilding since Brett Munyard suddenly quit, but new boss Alex Akrofi believes his side are starting to gel and will be looking to build on the midweek win on penalties against Concord Rangers.
It's the start of a run of five successive home matches for Millers, who entertain Maldon & Tiptree on Monday night.
Grays Athletic play host to Canvey Island in the Isthmian North – a fixture that carries many derby memories over decades for two clubs that have historically played at higher levels.
Blues also have a midweek Essex Senior Cup win to build on, having crushed a young Hornchurch side 8-0.
In the same division Tilbury have a long trip to the coast where they will face second-placed Gorleston at the Wellesley Recreation Ground.
