Change is in the air as borough clubs get ready for action

IT'S a day of transition for two borough clubs in the Isthmian North today (Saturday, 4 March).
Both East Thurrock United and Tilbury are in the process of finding new managers after announcements made yesterday.
Tilbury's incumbent manager Scott Dash took to social media to say he had left the Dockers, with acrimonious digs at the club's hierarchy.
The club has not responded publicly, nor said who will be taking charge for today's daunting clash at Chadfields when table-topping Hashtag United are the visitors.
Over at Rookery Hill it will be a day of farewell for the incumbent management duo of Marc Harrison and Liam Wallace.
After a sticky start to the season the duo have steered the Rocks to the fringe of the play-off race and they sit eighth going into today's home clash with Stowmarket Town, just one place above them.
However, despite the success on the pitch and an enthusiastic and growing fanbase it appears the club has a limited future.
Despite the many public pronouncements of multi-millionaire club owner Alfie Best, the reality is that the club is to be downsized – and could even drop down to the Essex Olympian League once the flamboyant residential park businessman gets clearance to park mobile homes all over a redeveloped Rookery Hill.
It seems likely that the club would move to the nearby Wyldecrest Sports Country Club - the former Pegasus club recently bought by Mr Best - and the facilities available there are likely to mean the club could not operate above genuine 'grassroots' level.
That limited future, and the budget available currently and in the future, has brought about the parting of the ways with Harrison and Wallace.
A club still definitely with an eye on the future and possible promotion is Grays Athletic.
Just a point off the play-off zone Grays travel to Wroxham today. A few weeks ago it would have been regarded as a likely win, but the Norfolk side have been resurgent recently and they sit safely in mid-table.
Also eyeing greater things ahead are Aveley who sit in second spot in The Isthmian Premier. Today they play host to seventh-placed Carshalton at Parkside - and on Monday are also in action at Parkside when they meet Chatham Town in the semi-final of the Velocity Trophy. Potters Bar await the winners in the final.
