Tilbury 1, Walthamstowe 0
RESURGENT Tilbury continue to breathe new life into their Isthmian North promotion campaign and have now gone six matches unbeaten - and re-entered the play-off zone - after Tuesday's (21 January) home win against Walthamstow.
In another tight match, Tilbury built on the momentum of their last gasp weekend draw with Gorleston and sealed all the points thanks to a second half goal from recent signing Olly Sotoyinbo.
The hosts were in positive vibe from the off and after six minutes Jordan Clark glanced a header just over the bar after good work by Lindell Stewart.
Stowe were keen to partake in the goalscoring opportunity stakes and it took a good save from George Marsh, whose outstretched leg denied Khris Oti.
At the other end visiting keeper Finn Rushton made a brilliant save to deny Oli Spooner's on target effort after good work from Sotoyinbo, who was building on the good impression created in his weekend debut against Gorleston.
Tilbury had the last chance of the half, Jack Hayes setting up Alex Hernandez, but his effort was just over the bar and the sides were goalless at the interval.
Dockers picked up where they left off in the second half and went close to breaking the deadlock on the hour, only for Stweart's strike to fly wide.
The decisive moment arrived in the 74th minute where some untidy play and a scramble around the Stowe box ended with Sotoyinbo forcing the ball home from close range.
Tilbury had to work hard through the closing stages and survived seven minutes of added time before sealing the win and moving into fifth spot.
Dockers will be back in action on Saturday (25 January) with a Thames derby trip to Concord Rangers, just 10 days after beating them at the EMR Stadium.
