Mildenhall Town 0, Tilbury 1

FOLLOWING victory midweek at home to Witham Town, Tilbury again delivered the goods and came away from Mildenhall Town with another three points on Saturday (19n October) to maintain their position second in the Isthmian North table, and with an unbeaten run of seven matches to their name.

Lewis Clark returned to action for Tilbury as he was the only change made from Tuesday's squad with Jack McQueen moving to the bench.

Dockers came close to opening the scoring inside 20 minutes when Sam Bantick recycled a chance with a deep cross towards the unmarked Connor Martin. The defender seemed to be caught in two minds about whether to head the ball across to Lewis Clark or go for goal himself and in the end, his effort bounced wide.

Mildenhall had control of the rest of the first half with chances coming down the left-hand side but there was no way past the resilient Dockers defence.

On the stroke of halftime, Sam Mulready's tidy footwork inside Tilbury's area enabled him to set the ball across to Jarid Robson who saw his strike denied by the foot of keeper David Hughes. The ball fell back to Robson who had a second bite of the cherry but a Tilbury defender threw his body in the way to keep the scoreline level heading into the break.

After the interval, the visitors grew into the game as they spread play out wide to Sam Bantick.

The winger's delivery was cleared but only as far as Sam Carter who struck a rocket of a volley that had the keeper beaten but couldn't find the net as the ball rattled the frame of the goal.

But Dockers would find the breakthrough in the 65th minute courtesy of Alex Hernandez. Mildenhall could not deal with Macauley Joynes' cross and Hernandez rifled his strike into the roof of the net to score his seventh goal in as many games for Tilbury.

Tilbury are back in action on Saturday (26 October) when they play Brightlingsea Regent at The EMR Stadium.
