CALVIN Ekpiteta's goal against one of his many former clubs proved the difference as Aveley went down to the evening's single goal at The War Memorial Sports Ground this evening (Monday, 10 October).
Ekpiteta, who played for the Millers in 2018, numbers Tilbury, Grays Athletic and East Thurrock United among the 15 non-League clubs he has played for in the past eight years.
His fourth goal of the season came in the 29th minute when the ball was crossed from the left and he hammered it home from the edge of the six yard box.
It was a match of few chances as Carlshalton battled hard, belying their poor start to the league campaign with just seven points from seven matches.
In the opening stages Aveley went close when only a last ditch block from Ollie Cook kept out George Sykes' shot.
One of Aveley's best chances came from Bryan Ifeanyi's volley on the stroke of half time but it was kept out by Robins keeper Danny Bracken and they rarely looked like clawing an equaliser back in the second half.
They almost managed it though with five minutes remaining, but home keeper Danny Bracken made an excellent diving save from Sykes' header to a first clean sheet of the season and the win for the Robins.
