ANOTHER potentially life-saving device has been put in place thanks to the generosity of borough folk and the community commitment of residents on a Stanford-le-Hope estate.

Over Christmas the residents of Maple and Stanford Park estates off Butts Lane in Stanford-le-Hope put on festive lights displays that attracted hundreds of visitors and raised thousands of pounds for the Katie's Heart Appeal campaign to install local public access automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) across the borough.

A number have since been installed, including at local schools.

And the latest is now in place at Homesteads Village Hall in Stanford.

Charlotte Davies, whose daughter Katie is the inspiration for the charity, said: "A massive thank you to everyone involved including David Bowling, Cllr Gary Byrne and Steve Kirby of SK Developments for installing the cabinet free of charge. Again excellent community teamwork.

"There's one more cabinet to go up and Stanford Park Christmas lights fundraiser is complete, but our mission carries on."
