Bid to build block of homes on open space in Chafford Hundred

A NEW block of apartments has been earmarked for an open space adjacent to a Chafford Hundred restaurant.

The proposal is for the construction of a three-storey residential building consisting of nine two bedroom apartments with private amenity spaces, cycle storage and bin storage on land of land situated between the Oriental Pan Asian Restaurant and the building known as Ascension Chambers

Plans also include a new vehicular access directly from Fleming Road and extensive landscaping that includes a retaining gabion wall for the west side of the site.

Developers behind the scheme say the land is currently an unsightly and undeveloped plot and the proposal has urban design gains by replacing an overgrown and vacant site in a built up area with an active and vibrant frontage.

The application, which can be viewed in full via this link says the redevelopment would enhance the street scene along Fleming Road.

Applicants add the site is well-served by public transport and is located within a five minute walk to Chafford Hundred station.

The application says: "This is an opportunity to provide a high quality residential development where there is a presumption for new housing."
