Chief Constable bemoans 'unfair funding' of Essex force but successes by officers on the ground in Thurrock are recounted

SUCCESSES by officers in Thurrock's policing division have been recorded in the latest edition of local force newsletter 'Dispatch'.
Among the messages in the release is a message from Chief Constable Ben-Julian Harrington, who says the force is achieving success despite being 'unfairly funded'.
CC Harrington, who will be in Grays later this week to promote a new neighbourhood policing initiative, says: "Essex Police remains unfairly funded in comparison with other forces and parts of the country so to be assessed as 'adequate' across the complex range of services we deliver is recognition of the immense work by our officers, staff and volunteers along with the strong partnerships we have across Essex.
He was responding to the latest review of his force by His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS).
His comments can be read in full via this link.
Also in the newsletter are details of how police in Tilbury seized 13 canisters of nitrous oxide from a large group of males - an in the same shift spotted a suspicios transit van, which turned out to be stolen.
And later a third success came then, on their way back to Grays police station, the team spotted an abandoned moped near the Broadway with no plates, no riders, and a very suspicious backstory.
Investigations showed it had been used by two suspects attempting to steal the bucket off an excavator. The moped has been seized on suspicion of being stolen and will be examined.
Other stories tell of another stolen recovered moped, arrest of a man forstealing cvars at lakeside and the search, albeit fruitless, for knives in Grays Town park.
