THURROCK Council has agreed to reconsider how the roadmarkings on the new Orsett Cock roundabout have been laid down after many residents expressed concern about how they might be misread.

And residents in Chadwell St Mary said they were confusing and did not highlight road restrictions on Brentwood Road enough – fearing an increased in banned HGV traffic.

Chadwell St Mary councillor Sara Muldowney has been correlating residents' concerns and approached Thurrock council on their behalf.

Now she has reported: "Many thanks to all residents who took the time to raise your concerns, including writing to the highways department.

"After discussions with the programme manager, I have gained assurances that this issue will be addressed as below:

'Adjustments to the road markings are being designed and will be carried out by Kier on site, within an appropriate road closure. The scope of the change is to direct vehicles for the exit to the south towards Chadwell St Mary along the nearside lane of the roundabout from the bridge across the access to the A1013 east.'

"I will be following up to make sure this is addressed in a timely manner."
