Councillors repeat call for more practical action to repel rise in crime
THE latest incident of violence and robbery in Grays has prompted three Riverside ward councillors to repeat a recent call for more action to combat crime in the area.
As reported on Thurrock Nub News earlier, police are seeking witnesses after two men were threatened and robbed on Bridge Road in the build-up to Christmas.
In response Cllrs Martin Kerin, Jane Pothecary and Tony Fish have released a statement saying: "We are shocked and ever-more concerned about the increasing level of crime and antisocial behaviour across the whole of Grays.
"We have been successful with recent CCTV petitions around Seabrooke Rise and Church Path, but clearly more needs to be done.
"Bridge Road and many other areas of our town need support.
"Residents are fearful and want to be able to enjoy all that our town has to offer. Grays will be held back if action is not taken."
