Flat fire to be followed by investigation and police issue appeal about wanted man

POLICE and fire services have been engaged in resolving an incident in South Ockendon this afternoon (Wednesday, 13 November) when a flat was on fire.

It happened in Cranell Green.

In the wake of the incident Essex Police have issued an appeal about a wanted man.

A statement from Essex Fire and Rescue says: "We were called to a domestic fire today at 2.04pm and four crews - two from Grays, one from Basildon and one from Brentwood attended.

"The fire is in a second floor flat. All persons are accounted for and crews remain at the scene.

"Police have been informed and a fire investigation will be carried out when the fire is extinguished."

Essex Police said: "We want to speak to Scott Rixon in connection with an arson investigation in South Ockendon.

"It relates to a fire at an address in Cranell Green at around 2.10pm today (Wednesday 13 November).

"The 31 year-old is described as white, of large build, with short brown hair and a tattoo on his arm.
