TWO teenage girls from the Stanford-le-Hope area have been cautioned by police for their role in a gang attack on a fellow teenager that was then widely posted on social media.

Thurrock Nubs reported on the original incident that took place close to Hardie Park on Stanford on Monday, 31 July and later, with permission from the victim and her family, posted the shocking footage of the attack.

The attack caused consternation among the east Thurrock community and there was widespread condemnation of the incident – as well as a big outpouring of support for the victim and her family.

After a lengthy investigation the attackers were identified and today (Wednesday, 8 November) a statement has been released by Essex Police.

It says: "Two girls have each accepted a caution for assault in connection with an incident in Stanford-le-Hope.

"The assault occurred at the Recreation Ground, Hardie Park Community Development Centre, Hardie Road, when the victim sustained injuries to their face and was taken to hospital."
