Man with knife trying to get homes is arrested after assault on 999 team member

A MAN in possession of a knife who assaults an emergency servies worker has been arrested after an incident in Stanford-le-Hope today (Saturday,, 3 February).

Police officers were called to reports of someone trying to get into addresses in Silvertown Avenue at around 2.35pm.

Officers attended the area and detained a man to affect a stop-and-search.

A 33 year-old man from Stanford-le-Hope was then arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and possession of a knife or bladed article.

He is currently in custody.
