AFTER all most two weeks of searching and hoping and the best efforts of a widespread borough community, it has been confirmed that a missing dog has been found dead.

There was widespread support across the west of Thurrock when it was reported earlier this month that the 11-month old puppy called Rolly had gone missing in the Davy Down area.

Many groups and individuals became involved in the search for Rolly, with his owner Marina Hill expressing her gratitude for the help which was consoling her through a traumatic time.

Among those organisations involved was the Pippa's Army lost animals charity and today (Thursday, 16 November) a spokesperson, Sue Garrad, confirmed the news that everyone was fearing.

It appears that Rolly was stolen and has died at the hands of those who took him. A police investigation is reported to be underway.

Sue said: "It's with a very heavy heart that I'm writing and I am not sure if I have the right words to express how everyone is feeling ……

"Sadly Rolly was found deceased yesterday. The family are absolutely broken.

"Rolly was only 11 months old….. he had so much life ahead of him and a very loving family

"To the person/persons responsible for stealing and killing this boy….you're evil and twisted! We hope you get your comeuppance soon!"

A further plea has gone out for anyone who might be able to help with the investigation.

Sue adds: "This is where you can all help to catch Rolly's killers. Anyone in the area of South Ockendon, Davy Down, Aveley, Kenningtons and North Stifford, please check any CCTV/ ring doorbells and dash-cam for the last week.

"Have you seen anyone out late at night walking a dog similar to Rolly? Have you seen him in a car?

"Has he been in a neighbour's garden? Any detail could help bring these people to justice.

"Please do the right thing. Contact can be made by calling 07857546330 or via Marina's Facebook page. It will be totally confidential.

"A huge thank you to everyone who helped try to get Rolly home safely. We can't thank you enough for all your hard work."
