Police continue probe into circumstances of incident that led to death of power worker

THE death has been confirmed of a power worker who was involved in an accident in South Ockendon last month while he was dealing with a power box.

The incident was reported on Thurrock Nub News on Wednesday, 18 January after the man had been rushed to a London Hospital in a serious condition.

A statement from Essex Police today (Friday, 10 February) has confirmed that he did not recover.

It says: "We were informed of an incident in Daiglen Drive shortly after 2 am on Wednesday 18 January, during which a man who was working on a power box had sustained a serious injury. 

"He was taken to hospital in a serious condition but, sadly, has since died.

"We are liaising with both UK Power networks and the Health and Safety Executive on the incident and our investigation into what happened is ongoing.

"The family wish to thank the local community for their aid and assistance in response to the incident and medical attention provided.

"We need anyone who witnessed the incident or who has mobile phone, dashcam or doorbell footage of it to get in contact.
