THE wife of a much-loved and widely respected Thurrock postal worker who passed away on Wednesday (30 December) after testing positive for Covid-19 just before Christmas has spoken about the man she described as 'my best friend.'

Mark Jeffryes, 60, of Charlton Street, South Stifford, was the longest serving worker at Grays Royal Mail depot, where stunned colleagues have been pooling memories of a man who they say made time for everyone.

Gabriella Forster-Still

TRIBUTES have been paid to a woman who made a tremendous contribution to the arts in Thurrock and helped many local children come into contact with music for the first time.

Gabriella Forster-Still was head of Learning snd Participation at the Royal Opera House, based at High House Production Park in Purfleet - a post she took up 12 years ago.

THE 75th anniversary of VJ Day (Victory in Japan Day) was commemorated on 15 August.. In the pretty Thurrock village of Bulphan they commemorated the event by Mrs Iris Aedy of Bulphan Women's Institute ringing the church bells 75 times.
