TILBURY will be looking to lay down a marker when they travel to Basildon United this evening (Friday, 1 November) hoping to ensure they retain top spot in the Isthmian North, regardless of what anyone else does this weekend.

It will be a tough task as Basildon sit fourth and have yet to lose at home, winning five and drawing one of their six matches at the Hive to date.

But after Tuesday's sensational Velocity Cup comeback, spirits will be high in the Dockers' camp.

Tomorrow, Grays Athletic will be looking to press towards the play-off zone. The Blues, currently 11th, entertain Maldon and Tiptree who are seven places behind them. Grays will also want to banish memories of their Velocity Cup hammering in midweek.

There's a very important Vanarama National League South clash at Parkside.

Though both Aveley and visitors Weymouth are just 13 matches into the 46-game campaign, tomorrow's clash is a significant one. Weymouth are bottom with seven points and the Millers just a place above them with eight and neither will want to give ground to relegation rivals.

Aveley will go into the game buoyed by a thoroughly convincing midweek Essex Senior Cup win at Walthamstow.

In the Essex and Suffolk Border League premier, 11th-placed East Thurrock Community FC are home to Hatfield Peveral, who sit seventh.
