A day of celebration and commemoration will take place at Tilbury's International Cruise Terminal next month to celebrate Windrush Day.

On Thursday, 22 June from 9.30am to 6.30pm visitors will be welcomed to the historic building to mark the arrival of HMT Empire Windrush on 21 June 1948 and the disembarkation the following day of 492 Caribbean migrants, many of them veterans of the Second World War.

The 75th anniversary of that disembarkation will see many live performers at the terminal, a Caribbean tea dance, workshops, talks and an exhibition.

Street food will be available all day. Entry is free.
