Shared Lives Carer

If you live in Thurrock, have a spare room in your house, and would like to offer accommodation and support to a vulnerable adult, sharing your family and community with them, Bettertogether will pay you a weekly allowance, plus rent and housekeeping money to cover food and bills. We will make sure that we match someone to live with you who shares common values and interests, and we will offer you all the support and training you need to ensure the arrangement is successful.

Your job may include some, or all of the below, but is not limited to these. However, you will choose to support someone with support needs you feel able to meet.

For example:

#support to be an active member of the local community

#support to learn new skills and gain independence.

#support with personal care, either by prompting, or by giving physical help as needed

#support to cook and eat healthy meals, as part of your family

#support to manage health issues, such as doctors visits, administering medication tc

#support to live an active and healthy lifestyle

#emotional support, coaching and mentoring

No experience of working in Adult Social Care is necessary, but you will need to have a belief that everyone has the right to live as an equal citizen, to have access to the same opportunities, and to be treated with respect and dignity, irrespective of any support needs.
