We're looking for an Operational Lead for our South Ockendon site; the primary purpose of this role is to optimise Productivity, Quality and Service at the service centre.

Chep offers pallet and container pooling services.

The role will report into the Plant Manager and be responsible for a team of around 100 staff and oversee more than 200 vehicle movements a day.

Key responsibilities

·Effective leadership and accountability to ensure full compliance to Safety Health Environment policies and procedures.

·Establish a culture where the entire organisation owns safety and aspires for Zero Harm.

·Ensure full compliance to Quality process and procedures.

·Maintain and exceed in customer service levels (OTIF)

·Maintain stock levels and accurate reporting of stock with a regular audit cycle

·Ensure the production process achieves plan and deliver effective strategies to increase volume and decrease unit cost/pallet.

·Develop the team to create a high performing autonomous team

·Drive Employee engagement through total employee involvement and focus on employee wellbeing. Deliver pulse survey results (Glint)

·Lead a strong program of training and development for employees

What you'll need;

·Continuous Improvement (CI), Lean manufacturing techniques & implementation

·Use of Analytics to modify and set KPI's

·Systems (SAP (Systems, Applications & Products), Microsoft Office)

·Experience of leading Zero Harm including learning teams and investigations.

·Experience within a fast-paced production & distribution operation

·Experience of delivering a high performance team.
