THERE are a range of apprenticeships currently on offer at the Port of Tilbury.

The port is proud to have hired apprentices into its business for over four decades, and they remain an integral part of the company's talent pipeline.

Whether you are looking to begin your career, are considering a career change or a return to the world of work, Port of Tilbury would love to hear from you. 

Among the opportunitres are:-

Marine Apprentice

In this apprenticeship, you will gain hands-on experience in various essential port operations. You will learn how to assist with the safe mooring and unmooring of vessels both at the lock and around the dock. Regular port patrols will help you develop an understanding of safety and security regulations, ensuring compliance within the port. You will also contribute to waste management by collecting categorised waste from vessels and cleaning the lock area using a specialist boat. Additionally, you will operate lock gates to facilitate smooth and efficient vessel transit.

Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ) Apprentice

During your apprenticeship, you will develop the skills needed to provide proactive coaching, advice, and solutions to support Central Service and Asset teams.

Procurement Apprentice

During your apprenticeship, you will gain hands-on experience in procurement and supply chain operations and will learn how to source and purchase goods and services, prepare and issue purchase orders, and ensure compliance with company policies. You will develop skills in supplier relationship management, including obtaining quotes, negotiating prices, and ensuring timely deliveries.

Apprentice Warehouse Operative (Grain)

As a Grain Terminal apprentice, you will gain a thorough understanding of the day-to-day Grain operations and receive high quality training on a range of mechanical plant equipment, conveyor systems and machinery. You'll gain insights into different aspects of the asset and will develop a deep understanding of health and safety policies and procedures. By the end of the programme, you'll emerge as a fully trained port operative ready to excel in your career.

Apprentice Bulks Operative

As a Bulks apprentice, you will gain a thorough understanding of the day-to-day Bulks operations and receive high quality training on a range of Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE), conveyor systems and machinery. You'll gain insights into different aspects of the asset and will develop a deep understanding of health and safety policies and procedures. By the end of the programme, you'll emerge as a fully trained port operative ready to excel in your career.

Apprentice Warehouse Operative (POTAS)

As a POTAS apprentice, you will gain a thorough understanding of the wider port operations and receive high quality training on a range of mechanical plant equipment and machinery. You'll gain insights into different port assets by spending time in various areas and develop a deep understanding of health and safety policies and procedures. By the end of the programme, you'll emerge as a fully trained port operative ready to excel in your career.
