Time to commemorate the finest hour

A SERVICE of commemoration to honour the fallen of the Battle of Britain and veterans of the monumental effort that changed the course of World War Two will take place in Grays on Sunday (15 September).

Thurrock Royal Air Force Association has again organised the event that will take place at the War Memorial on the High Street, with the gathering ahead of the ceremony at 10.30am.

The service will be led by Maureen McPherson, Methodist Lay Preacher and RAFA Chaplain for the Thurrock Branch.

Grays Town Band will play during the service, which will feature the Last Post played by Dave Honeywell.

Representatives of the armed and emergency services will be present and there will bea a number of civic dignitaries including borough Deputy Mayor, Cllr Sue Shinnick and Thurock Council Leader Cllr John Kent.
