A PLANNING application that has been under development for more than a year - and would see a recycling plant built on an industrial park which has been the centre of much local controversy - is going out for public consultation.

Thurrock Council has this week advertised the plans put forward by Lowes Metal & Recycling for the use of land for the purpose of metal recycling on part of Stanhope Industrial Park.

BOROUGH athletes will be on their marks a little quicker thanks to a fundraising effort by members of a Thurrock store.

The Co-op at Socketts Heath, Grays, selected Thurrock Harriers Athletics Club as a community group it wanted to support and staff helped raise £2,672 .

POLICE officers joined revenue inspectors for a crackdown on beggars and fare dodgers on c2c trains from Fenchurch Street this evening (Wednesday, 11 December).

A statement from British Transport Police in Essex said: "c2c passengers have asked us to focus our resources on begging and fare evasion.

AN angry council tenant is seeking action from Thurrock Council over shoddy work at her home - and an incident that ended with her tiny pet dog losing a leg!

A MAJOR roadworks project being managed by Thurrock Council is reported to have burst its budget by more than £30 million pounds – and that figure is expected to rise says a whistleblower.

RESIDENTS, motorists and bus users have been warned of roadworks next week that will cause some disruption.

Thurrock Council has advised that electrical and structural supplier Cabletest will be carrying out repair works along Lampits Hill in Corringham from Monday, 16 to Wednesday, 18 December between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

DELAYS are anticipated while workers fix a water leak on a busy borough road - and work could stretch into next week.

The problem has happened on the A128 near the Ye Olde Plough House motel and temporary traffic lights have been set up on the southbound carriageway.

A YEAR of meetings by a popular Grays social group came to an end with a Christmas party.

The last meeting of 2019 for Grays (Afternoon) Townswomen's Guild featured entertainment was arranged by committee member Audrey Haines, which included sketches, a quiz and Christmas carols.
