A MAN who was arrested by Grays Town Centre Team officers during an attempted shop theft has been jailed.

Dean Crooks, 33, of Seabrooke Rise, Grays, received five months for assault by beating and two months for attempted theft, to run concurrently, when he appeared for sentencing at Basildon Crown Court. He had previously pleaded guilty to the offences.

A MAN has appeared in court in connection with the deaths of 39 people found in a lorry in Grays last year.
