THANKS have been expressed to a Stanford-le-Hope-based company which donated materials for the refurbishment of a fence around a scout hall in the town.

Second Stanford Scouts and its cubs and beavers groups are based at Allott Hall on Park Road and the state of the fencing around the hall and car park was in disarray.

Wharf Timber, based in the town, donated materials to replace the fence and parents and supporters of the group turned out over several days to take down the old fencing and replace it with a new fence.

Group leader Jacqui Mann said: "A huge thank you to Kevin at Wharf Shipping for donating the wood and to everyone who has come along and helped Phil and Dave with the fence building and thanks to everyone who turned out to help them."

"It looks amazing, well done everyone!"
