THERE was considerable disappointment for Grays Athletic followers - and plenty of anger from supporters who had travelled - after this evening's Essex Senior Cup match at Concord Rangers was called off by the match referee with fans already having arrived at the ground.

Though a number of matches in the region were called off during the day there was no indication from National South Concord that the match at the Aspect Arena was problematic.

Yet, less than a couple of hours before kick-off the decision was taken to call the game off.

Concord issued a statement sdaying: "The club has done everything they can throughout the day, but the referee has arrived at the ground and has made the final decision to call it off. Our deepest apologies for any confusion."

And on its social media, Grays Athletic said: "The club will await a new date for our Essex Senior Cup match against Concord Rangers, as soon as we have that date it will be posted via our social media accounts and club website. Once again we apologise to those supporters who had already arrived at the match tonight."
