EAST Thurrock United have been rewarded for a fine away win at the weekend with a home draw in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

After their 3-1 win at Cambridge City the Rocks have been paired at home to Needham Market in their next tie, which will take place on Saturday, 18 September.

Needham Market, from Suffolk, play in the Southern League Premier Central Division, at the same level in the non-league pyramid as Isthmian Premier East Thurrock. But, FA Cup aside, they have made a poor start to the season and are bottom of the table with just one point from four matches.

They won through to the meeting with Rocks with their first win of the season on Saturday, getting a 1-0 victory over fellow Southern League Central Premier opponents St Ives Town.

The Marketmen are managed by former Northern Ireland international Kevin Horlock who numbers West Ham and Manchester City among the clubs he played for in a professional career that also included spells at Swindon Town, Ipswich Town and Doncaster Rovers.

Isthmian North Aveley have to wait until tomorrow (Tuesday, 7 September) for their first qualifying round match after initial opponents Ilford were ruled to have played an ineligible player against Barking, who won a replayed tie on Saturday.

If the Millers come through at Mayesbrook Park they will also be at home in the next round against AFC Dunstable, a fellow step four side who play in the Division One Central of the Southern League where they have won three of their first four matches and sit just outside the play-off zone.

For the winning clubs, there's a prize of £3,375 awaiting in the next round, while losing clubs will pick up £1,125.
