DRIVERS and residents are advised of another weekend closures on the A13 to enable the next phase of the project to be completed safely.

This weekend's closure takes place from 9pm on Friday, 28 February until 5am on Monday, 2 March. The road will be closed beneath the A128 junction (Orsett Cock Roundabout) with diversions via the exit slip road, roundabout and entry slip road.

Delays are expected and all non-local traffic is urged to avoid the A13 and use alternative routes such as the A130, A127 and M25.

Planned closures are:

24 February to 27 February, overnight from 9pm to 5am

28 February to 2 March, part weekend closure

2 March to 6 March, overnight from 9pm to 5am

13 March to 16 March, full weekend closure

16 March to 20 March, overnight from 9pm to 5am

Details of diversions are available online at A13 roadworks – planned road closures.

Cllr Mark Coxshall, Cabinet member for regeneration, said: "The A13 widening is part of £20billion planned investment in jobs, homes and infrastructure in Thurrock. The road is currently operating over capacity, with approximately 77,000 vehicles using this section of road on a daily basis, not acting to alleviate this is not an option.

"Once complete there will be a continuous three-lane road in both directions between the M25 and Stanford-le-Hope. This is an extremely important development for the whole of the South Essex economy."

Measures being put in place to help keep local traffic on the move are the closure of Buckingham Hill Road, Linford, and Orsett Road in Horndon as well as implementing a temporary one way system in Gordon Road and Victoria Road in Horndon.
