A FUNDRAISING page has been created to help the family of a five-year-old Thurrock boy, who died before Christmas, celebrate his life and passing with an appropriate funeral service.

Family friend Jaimie Mccutcheon has organised the fundraiser, following the death of Jimmy Mills.

She says: "Jimmy grew his angel wings too soon on the 16th of December due to asthma. Any money raised will be given to the family to help at this truly tough time and to help with funeral cost."

Jimmy's funeral is set to take place next month. The appeal to fund it and the opportunity to donate can be found via this link.

The youngster's death was reported by police officers who launched an investigation after being alerted by a medical team who attended  his home in in St Margaret's Avenue, Stanford-le-Hope, on the morning of 16 December.

A police statement said: "Paramedics reported the child had suffered a medical episode and, despite their best efforts, he passed away."

A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of child neglect and causing or allowing the death of a child and has released on bail until 15 February. Police have confirmed today their investigation into the incident is ongoing.

It is not the first time the generosity and support of the Thurrock community has been called upon in the wake of tragedy in recent weeks.

Following the death of five-year-old Lincoln Button, also just before Christmas, an online appeal raised £8,177 for his funeral service.
