THURROCK mayor Cllr James Halden has presented a cheque for £15,000 to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Basildon University Hospital thanks to a donation for his charity given by DP World London Gateway.

Cllr Halden named the unit as his main charity when he was elected as Mayor in May this year.

He will also focus on charities that provide help for refugee children and families and those who support them.

The Mayor has already presented a cheque to the Sea Cadets and in the coming days and weeks will be making donations from his charity to refugee organisations and other local good causes.
