CONSISTENT rain and strong winds have had a considerable impact across the south Essex region this afternoon (Thursday, 3 October), including the cancellation of some bus services between Basildon and Lakeside.

After a night of rain the Met Office issued a further yellow weather warning that there might be possible flooding and some rural roads have been affected.

One of biggest consequences as the cancellation by Essex First buses of some 100 services as it was having problems with vehicle availability because of delays. The 2.55pm Basildon to Lakeside was the first to be pulled and then as the rush hour approached the 4pm Lakeside to Basildon, 5.15pm Basildon to Lakeside and 6.20pm Lakeside to Basildon services were cancelled.

A spokesman for First Essex said: "We apologise for any disruption caused to your journey."
