PUPILS from Graham James Primary School helped to add some much-needed greenery to the front garden of the neighbouring new Corringham Integrated Medical Centre (IMC) building, which is set to open in the spring.

"It's a great result to have the school involved in finalising the new centre as the new build aims to bring together health, care and community services, all focused on supporting wellbeing across the entire breadth of the Corringham and Stanford-le-Hope community," said Brid Johnson, Operations director of the North East London Foundation Trust which will run the centre.

CONFLICTING views over plans for Thurrock Council's finances for the next year are likely to be aired at the next meeting of the council, currently set for Wednesday, 26 January.

At that meeting opposition councillors will get the opportunity to debate the forthcoming budget proposals, which have been outlined in a report going to next week's cabinet meeting.

The new road will plough through the green belt of Thurrock.

A CAMPAIGN group has submitted a 12 page response to a consultation on the Lower Thames Crossing project saying it will damage the environment.

As part of its response to the National Highways Route Strategies RIS3 consultation, a national road building programme which includes the Lower Thames Crossing, borough-based Thames Crossing Action Group took the opportunity to draw attention to concerns about the proposed £8.2bn Lower Thames Crossing project that, if granted permission, would create a 2.5 mile tunnel under the Thames that will connect Kent and Thurrock and plough a multi-carriageway road through the heart of Thurrock.

TOFFS is off!

ALL scheduled meetings of the Thurrock Over Fifties Forum (TOFFS) have been cancelled until March because of the increase in transmission figures of covid.

A statement from the group says: "It is with great regret that following the ongoing covid situation TOFFS have decided to postpone its monthly meetings until March when hopefully we will reassess the situation and reconvene our meetings."

Tyson Fury, inset, has sent a message of support to Craig North as he battles in hospital after the attack.

WORLD boxing champ Tyson Fury has joined many members of the local community who have issued 'get well messages' to a Tilbury man who was the victim of a savage attack in the town on Sunday, 2 January.

Craig North, known locally as 'Noggo', received multiple stab wounds in the attack and is fighting for his life in hospital. The borough community has rallied round his family with many messages of support and his plight has even reached the ears of boxing champ Fury, known as 'The Gypsy King'.
