A VEHICLE suspected of having been used to carry out a series of fly-tips in Tilbury has been seized by Thurrock Council Environmental Enforcement Officers. The owner of the vehicle will now be issued with a £200 Fixed Penalty Notice.

Leader of Thurrock Council, Cllr Rob Gledhill said: "Residents took to social media about the fly-tipping incidents at the weekend but regrettably no one was willing to come forward to make an official statement which means that Environmental Enforcement Officers could not seek to prosecute those involved.

TOMORROW (Saturday, June 26) anyone aged 18 or over who has not yet had their first vaccine or is now due to have their second dose, can get a walk-in appointment at Stifford Clays Health Centre without booking ahead.

Anyone over 18 will be able to walk in and get their jab while going about their usual weekend business - without needing to book a time in advance, thanks to the NHS's 'Grab a Jab' weekend.

THURROCK Council bin crews will be carrying out recycling and garden waste collections tomorrow (Saturday, 26 June) as the council catches up on collections missed this week.

The council is asking residents who did not have their blue bin collected this week and anyone who was due to have their brown bin collected as part of week two collections to leave their bins out for collection tomorrow.

THE owners of a Stanford-le-Hope pub which has been closed down on England Euro 2020 matchdays because of breaching Covid-19 guidelines have hit back at Thurrock Council - and in particular its leader Cllr Rob Gledhill.

The council announced it had issued a closure notice on the Railway Tavern on Tuesday, just hours before England's match with the Czech Republic.

THREE tower blocks in Blackshots could be pulled down after senior Thurrock Council officers conceded they were failing residents who are being affected by significant problems with damp and mould.

That news was one of the outcomes of this week's meeting of the council's housing overview and scrutiny committee when the council found itself under withering fire from several councils of its failings to maintain properties properly.
