Apprentices start career at port

FOLLOWING the success of the Port of Tilbury's recruitment day in June, a group of 12 apprentices have joined the port after a competitive interview process.

The group of young people have now started their two-year apprenticeship which includes full training and accredited qualifications giving these new candidates the opportunity to gain skills and qualifications to work across all areas of the fast-growing port.

A statement from Fort Ports, operator of the port, says: "We are looking for enthusiastic, ambitious people who wish to undertake high quality training on a wide range of mechanical plant and equipment whilst gaining real work experiences across all of our operating assets.

Port hosts careers and recruitment day

THE Port of Tilbury has reminded residents including young people and job seekers that it will be hosting a recruitment day on Tuiesday, 29 June at the London Cruise Terminal, to showcase the career and skills development opportunities available across the port for adults of all ages.

The day will run from 11am until 8pm and will be opened by Forth Ports Group CEO Charles Hammond OBE.

Port offers training and careers opportunity

THE Port of Tilbury will play host to a recruitments skills and training day on Tuesday, 29 June from 11am to 8pm.

Organised by the Logistics Training Academy, the free event at the London International Cruise Terminal on Ferry Road will include port tours, simulator sessions, virtual reality experiences and the opportunity to meet members of the port team to find out more and fill in applications for latest vacancies.

New paper contract is boost for port

A NEW contract has been hailed as great news for the port of Tilbury.

SCA, Europe's largest private forest owner and producer of wood products, packaging paper, pulp and renewable energy, will return on a long-term deal to the UK Paper Hub located at the port, which has its own berths.

A haze over Tilbury - but Thurrock Council says it came from afar.

THE ongoing success and investment into the Port of Tilbury and its new sister venture Tilbury 2 has been boosted by the announcement of a new 25-year partnership between the port and the Tarmac Construction company.

However, residents in the town remain concerned about the impact of a growing industrial area which is adjacent to their homes – and once again the question of dust, which some residents claim blights their lives has been raised.
