THERE were differing fortunes for teams in this evening's three non-league friendlies featuring borough sides.

Isthmian Premier Aveley were all smiles at Parkside after a very encouraging 2-0 win against National League South Cheshunt, with both goals coming the first half.

However, the region's two Isthmian North sides both went down.

At Rookery Hill East Thurrock United lost 3-1 to visiting Ilford, with their goal coming from Harry Hope.

And Tilbury travelled to Isthmian Premier Canvey Island and in an entertaining match went down 4-2.

Grays Athletic will be in action at Parkside on Wednesday (20 July) against Hornchurch.
