Green light for shops and homes plan in town centre

FOR the second time permission has been granted for the renovation of a parade of shops in Stanford-le-Hope and the creation of seven new homes.

A previous application for the scheme on the Green had expired so the buildings' owners had to go back to Thurrock Council with a new application, reported last month on Thurrock Nub News.

They have now been given the green light to go ahead with the project.

The main differences between the current proposal and the consented 2017 scheme

are as follows:

  • A slightly larger ground floor side extension than the previous scheme;
  • Revised layout of the open curtilage at the rear of the building, resulting in increased parking provision in the current proposal (10 spaces compared to nine in the previous scheme);
  • Partial loss of the office space ( 1 office unit retained from 3 units), which together with the two existing first floor flats now form part of the six flats on the first floor;
  • A modest increase in roof ridge height on the western section of the building and associated rear dormer.
