A MAN who used to live in Tilbury and has previously been named as a member of the notorious C17 gang has been released on bail after his latest court appearance.

Prior to him being arrested and being taken before magistrates in Basildon, police had issued an appeal for the whereabouts of Carlito Hall, 20, now said to be of Lewis Avenue, Walthamstow.

PLANNERS have agreed 'in principle' to a new development of eight homes in Stanford-le-Hope but have recommended refusal because of the impact it would have on some neighbouring properties and parking concerns.

At their next meeting on Thursday, 9 January, councillors on Thurrock Council's planning committee will hear details of the proposed scheme to develop the rear garden area at the bungalow 'Windy Ridge' at 251 Branksome Avenue and construct eight semi-detached dwellings there.

School 'fire' was false alarm

FIREFIGHTERS have attended a call out at Giffards Primary School in Corringham late on Sunday evening but it was a false alarm.

Residents reported there was a small fire in an area near foundation year part of the school on Queen Elizabeth Drive but crews found no sign.
