POLICE have released footage of the dramatic incident when a police officer came to the aid of her colleague, winning praise for her bravery.

The incident was recently featured on BBC's Crimewatch. It involved PC Chantelle Feyzifar who stepped in after a violent driver dragged a colleague down the road with his moving vehicle after a routine traffic stop in Chafford Hundred. When the vehicle stopped, the then 26-year-old man started to punch the officer.

THURROCK Council and Essex Police officers recently joined forces for a two-day operation to tackle car cruisers in West Thurrock and Thurrock Council leader Cllr Rob Gledhill joined them for the exercise.

Cllr Gledhill, who is also cabinet member for public protection and anti-social behavioursaid: "We have once again shown car cruisers that will not tolerate their reckless and anti-social behaviour on our roads and any attempt to flout the West Thurrock Public Space Protection Order will be met with strict enforcement action.

CONTRACTORS have been appointed and work is scheduled to start shortly on the much-delayed and over budget Stanford-le-Hope rail station.

Thurrock Council has announced it has appointed British engineering and construction company VolkerFitzpatrick to carry out the work on a project that is now almost £20 million above its initial budget - though no mention of cost has been made in the latest council announcement.
