PRESIDENT of Grays Rotary Club Adrian Alsop today (Thursday, 3 March) presented cheques totalling £10,700 to five chosen charities which are the beneficiaries of the club's Christmas street and supermarket collections -

Lauren Eagle-Allen, representing Little Havens Childrens Hospice, Janice Gilroy, representing Barnardo's, and the head of Treetops School, John Brewer, each received a cheque for £2,600. Each expressed their grateful thanks to the club.

TWO women have been arrested following yesterday's incident at a block of flats on Godman Road, Chadwell St Mary.

A statement from Essex Police this morning (Thursday, 3March) says: "We were called to reports of a disturbance at an address in Godman Road, Chadwell St Mary at around 3pm on Wednesday, 2 March.

POLICE officers attended a significant incident at the tower block flats in Chadwell St Mary this evening and at least two people were seen being taken for treatement by ambulance.

Little detail has been issued about what has happened but at 6.36 this evening (Wednesday, 2 March) police issued the following statement: "We are currently on scene of a disturbance at an address in Godman Road, Chadwell St Mary.

Councillors stand by the flag before it was raised.

THURROCK Council is flying the flag of Ukraine at the Civic Offices, in a show of solidarity following the invasion by forces from the Federation of Russia.

The flag-raising ceremony was attended by borough mayor Cllr Sue Shinnick and councillors from across the chamber. As well as the raising the flag, Thameside Complex is being lit in yellow and blue as a further show of support.
