PLANS have been submitted to Thurrock Council to build nine new homes on a dilapidated site in Corringham where it is hoped to build a mews-style development on land off Rookery Hill.

Though the site is within a conservation area and the green belt, the applicants - North Stifford-based Barclay St James Planning Ltd - say the new development adjacent to Harley Cottage will improve the look of the area as well as make it safe.

WARD councillors in Grays have asked for a relaxation of council rules in the town so that teams of council workers can clean up alleyways that have been affected a spate of recent fly-tipping.

The problem has been particularly bad in the Grays Riverside ward where local councillors Martin Kerin, Jane Pothecary and Tony Fish says something has to be done.

A THURROCK pub which voluntarily closed its doors after a customer came down with Covid19 has actually gone above and beyond the level of protection expected says Thurrock Council.

In the 24 hours since the Crown and Anchor at Aveley confirmed it had been notified a customer in the pub on Sunday (12 July) had visited hospital and had been confirmed as a carrier of the virus there has been an element of confusion about what should happen.
