FOLLOWING publication of a Nub News story highlight the shocking state of Corringham Town park, it has been partially closed by Thurrock Council for maintenance.

Nub News reported on the continued poor state of the park last week, following an accident in which a local, elderly woman tripped and fell and was injured. Other falls and injuries have been reported on social media.

A PSYCHIATRIST has detailed the life story and series of events that led up to a Grays woman killing her mother.

At Basildon Crown Court where 60-year-old Cheryl Banks is on trial for murder, consultant forensic psychiatrist Dr Alan Reid gave details of interviews he had had with Mrs Banks and he pieced together the circumstances that led to her smothering her mother to death at their shared home on Lenmore Avenue in Grays in June last year before attempting to kill herself.

Officers pull over a quad biker in Tilbury.

AN operation to crack down on the theft of vehicles and anti-social behaviour in Thurrock saw six vehicles seized and three arrests made.

The operation featured 16 special constables and four regular officers using nine marked and unmarked cars and two motorcycles to target areas where thefts have been reported and vehicles have been driven and ridden irresponsibly on and off-road.

Ortu Corringham Primary School and Nursery are holding consultations ahead of plans to open a new nursery in an adapted two-storey building next to one of the academy's secondary schools, Ortu Hassenbrook Academy on Hassenbrook Road in Stanford-le-Hope.

The nursery would provide care and education for children prior to school age and be called 'Happy Tots'.

A JURY listened to the harrowing moments as a shocked husband called police to inform them his wife had killed his mother-in-law - then watched footage of the dramatic and upsetting scenes when emergency services arrived at the family home in Grays.

Steve Banks arrived home on Lenmore Avenue with his son on Monday, 21 June last year to find the body of 89-year-old Winifred Grover and his wife in a semi-conscious state after taking tablets and drinking whisky in a bid to kill herself after smothering her dementia-suffering mother to death.
