Across the country, members of Garic's teams have been nominating worthy causes close to their hearts and at the Thurrock-based London Service and Distribution centre at Waterson Close, West Thurrock, staff have elected to share out £2,500.

Cruising crackdown is continued

Cllr Rob Gledhill has welcomed an extension of the crusing ban at Lakeside which is aimed at stopping mass events in shopping centre and store car parks.

THURROCK Council is extending its public space protection order (PSPO) against car cruisers in West Thurrock.

The PSPO was originally put in place in 2015 and since then has been extended twice, which has given the council and Essex Police the powers to crack down on anti-social behaviour and disruption to residents' lives - particularly by power showing off and sometimes racing their powerful or custom-built cars.

STAFF at the Thurrock branch of Manorcourt Homecare are appealing for the person who nominated them for a certificate of recognition to come forward to be properly thanked.

The homecare provider's Thurrock-based branch received a Mayor's certificate of recognition for the caring support they have been giving to home-based residents during the Covid-19 pandemic.

GRAYS Town Park played host to its first Winter Wonderland event on Sunday (19 December) and while a number of planned stallholders were unable to attend because of covid concerns, the fledgling festive function has been hailed as the start of something special.

The park's new community cafe was open and there were still a number of stalls providing local services or selling goods and throughout the day music and a number of guest performers featured courtesy of Quest Music Services and Thames Delta Radio.

SCHOOLS and nurseries across the borough have been sent a festive 'thank-you' from Thurrock Foodbank.

The Corringham-based charity's business co-ordinator Sandra Sawle has contacted Thurrock Nub News and asked us to publicise the efforts of 32 schools who have helped the foodbank over recent months, particularly by collecting food items following harvest festivals.

999 teams work to help patient

ALL three main emergency services united to help a patient at a Thurrock home this morning (Saturday, 18 December).

Police, fire and ambulance crews attended a home on Giffords Cross Road to help facilitate the treatment of a resident there which necessitated moving the person and specialist help was required.

The protest in West Thurrock

A THURROCK mum who is alleged to have tried to nudge an eco protester out of the way as she blocked the road during a climate change protest in the borough in October has been charged by police with assault.

There have been no charges yet against the protesters, despite a ruling by the government that was aimed at ensuring they faced jail if the disruption to traffic continued.

IN the week before Christmas residents in Thurrock have been told they can expect the normal bin collections service - which will also remain on normal collection days right through the holiday and into the new year.

All collections will take place as normal says Thurrock Council, including Christmas Eve and Monday, 27 December, which will be a bank holiday.
