Santa's surprise arrival

YOUNGSTERS at Treetops School in Grays were visited by Father Christmas today (Friday, 17 December) as the company that is building its new sister school building on an adjacent site donated gifts.

Net Zero Buildings is currently constructing the new building that will cater for up to 160 pupils with special educational needs and supplement the existing school complex.

FEARS over what proved to be a forwarded email relating to an American school, which was interpreted as a possible threat to Gable Hall school in Corringham this lunchtime sparked a precautionary reaction from the school and its staff.

However, a police investigation after officers were immediately deployed, has located the source if the email, which contained a gun threat, and it declared there was no danger.

VILLAGERS in East Tilbury have been enjoying a warm Christmas welcome offered by local scouts, guides, cubs, beavers and brownies.

Members of all the village scouting and guiding groups have spent weeks preparing a display and for the last three nights have been playing host to residents.

Cllr Luke Spillman has praised the online initiative with Beam

IN the run up to Christmas, Thurrock Council has launched a pilot scheme to support homeless residents back into work and will be working with online crowdfunding platform Beam to help homeless people access the training and support they need to ensure they leave homelessness for good by securing stable jobs.

During the initial pilot 30 people will benefit from the new partnership, from rough sleepers to those living in temporary accommodation.

ESSEX Police are reporting a year of success in Thurrock, saying anti-social behavior in the borough has taken a significant drop.

In a new release, police in Thurrock say in the 12 months to 30 November 2021, there were 813 fewer incidents of anti-social behaviour in the borough compared with the year before. They have not given details of how many offences there are in a year.
