AN appeal has been made for people to behave responsibly when visiting a Thurrock Christmas lights attraction set up by householders to raise funds for a local good cause.

There were some less than happy seasonal moments last night (Saturday, 11 December) when some of a large number of visitors to the lights display on the Maple Park and Stanford Park estate in Stanford-le-Hope ended up in confrontations with residents as they parked recklessly and without thought for the problems they were causing.

WITH four minutes to go at Ram Meadow, Grays Athletic had victory against Bury Town in their grasp and fourth spot in the Isthmian North table but Ollie Hughes scored to give the north Suffolk hosts a share of the points.

THURROCK Council leader Rob Gledhill has spoken for the first time about his exemption from wearing a face mask in the wake of a Thurrock Nub News story last week that highlighted criticism of him and the allegation that he is a hypocrite by another councillor.

In our story we quoted independent councillor Gary Byrne, who questioned by Cllr Gledhill – a consistent speaker through his weekly blog supporting covid prevention measures - and criticsed him and other councillors for not wearing masks at the meeting in a room that had little visible ventilation.

The cadets, from TIlbury-based TS Dragon, have been collecting for funds at the Morrisons store in the town today (Saturday, 11 December).

Grays Town Band in Whitmore Avenue

RESIDENTS in Grays are being entertained today (Saturday, 11 December) by Grays Town Band who are playing on local driveways and, this evening, at Grays Parish Church.

They started at Whitmore Avenue at 10am before moving on to Bradleigh Avenue at noon. They were due to perform at Nutberry Avenue at 2pm.

IN his latest address to borough residents, Thurrock council leader Cllr Rob Gledhill has once again repeated his call for local people to get vaccinated to protect themselves and others against Covid-19.

And, even though he came in for criticism at a recent full meeting of the council for not wearing a facemask himself, he stressed the importance of masks in stopping communication of the disease.
